This study examines the use of biotechnology for cleaner production (i.e., greater energy efficiency as well as reduced emissions of greenhouse gases and toxic substances) in a number of Canadian industry sectors. Both current uses and potential uses are considered. The overall aim is to build awareness among Canadian stakeholders about applications of biotechnology for cleaner production in key industry sectors. This will lay the foundation for promoting greater use of biotechnology in Canadian industry.--Preface
