"Although the focus of [this] document is on Canada’s territories, the best practices are applicable to communities in the northern parts of the provinces, indigenous communities, and other small communities across Canada. This document provides guidance on best practices for the planning, design, operation, and eventually, closure of existing or new municipal solid waste (MSW) facilities in northern and remote regions. The first two sections of the document (Sections 2 and 3) provide guidance on the waste management planning process, while the latter half of the document (Sections 4 through 9) provides technical guidance on MSW facility design, operation, and closure”--Intro., p. 1.
