Multibeam bathymetry and shaded seafloor relief, Lunenburg Bay, Scotian Shelf, offshore Nova Scotia / authors, E.L. King and D. Beaver.: M183-2/8177E-PDF

"This illustrated bathymetric (water depth) map, in shaded relief view, is one of a three-map series of Lunenburg Bay at a scale of 1:25 000. Water depth is derived from 2004-06 sonar surveys and displayed as a beige and orange to blue colour spectrum. An insert map of the harbor shows natural and anthropogenic details including shallow gas escape, dredging and dredge spoils, and anchor marks. Selected depth profile inserts help characterize across bedrock, sand dunes, and glacial and current-generated features. Another insert details the scuttling site of a military ship. The town and harbour have characteristic glacier-influenced morphology while most of Lunenburg Bay follows the same bedrock morphological platforms, folds and minor faults as on adjacent land (slates and metamorphosed sandstones) but generally with better exposure than on land. Sediment distribution is governed largely by glacial processes and their deposits (till and outwash sands and gravels), past lower sea-level and its subsequent rise which effectively erodes most sediment and drowned extensive salt marsh"--Summary provided by publisher.
