National prevalence of mental disorders among incoming federally-sentenced men offenders / Janelle N. Beaudette, Jenelle Power & Lynn A. Stewart.: PS83-3/357E-PDF

"The present study determined the prevalence rates of major mental disorders among men offenders newly admitted to CSC using the Structured Clinical Interview for Diagnostic and Statistical Manual for Axis I Disorders (SCID-I) and the SCID Axis II Personality Disorders. The following disorders were assessed: 1) mood; 2) psychotic; 3) substance use; 4) anxiety; 5) eating; 6) pathological gambling (from the optional modules); 7) APD; and 8) borderline personality disorder (BPD). Rates were obtained for both lifetime and current prevalence (i.e., the past month). All consecutive admissions to the reception centres on new warrants of committal over a six-month period were approached to obtain their consent to participate in the diagnostic interview. This report presents the results nationally and from the individual regions and by Aboriginal ancestry"--Executive summary, p. iii.
