"The Generalized Edit and Imputation System (GElS) currently being developed at Statistics Canada, is expected to meet the numerical edit and imputation requirements of most of the Bureau's economic surveys. The automation and to a larger extent the generalization aspect of the system have made it necessary to develop an edit and imputation strategy which is different from what has been used traditionally. This paper first provides an overview of GElS followed by a presentation of the new strategy underlying its use"--Abstract.
