Cost-variance optimization of dual frame design for estimating proportions / by G. H. Choudhry.: CS11-617/90-1E-PDF

"An analytic solution for the optimum allocation of the sample to the two frames in a dual frame design is proposed. Efficiencies of the dual frame design relative to the single complete frame design for estimating proportions are obtained for various combinations of cost ratios, design effect ratios, and coverage by the incomplete frame when the total survey cost is fixed. Contour plots of the efficiencies are also shown. Losses in efficiency due to non-optimum allocation of the sample are reported"--Abstract.
