“The Mines Branch of the Department of Energy, Mines and Resources has undertaken a program to prepare a number of ores of metallic minerals for use as standard reference materials. This report describes the characterization and preparation of the second ore in the program, a zinc-tin-copper-lead ore, MP-1, from New Brunswick. The mineralogical, geological and chemical characteristics of MP-1 are given as well as some details of methods used for its comminution, blending, and for assessing its homogeneity. Nineteen laboratories participated in the program by providing analyses for selected elements. The recommended mean values for these are: Zn - 16.33%; Sn - 2.50%; Cu - 2.15%; Pb - 1.93%; Mo - 0.014%; In - 071%; Bi - 0.025%; As - 0.79%; Ag - 59.5 ppm. The analytical results and the evaluation of statistical parameters for the above elements are reported"--Synopsis, p. i.
