Shelter and services for the small town elderly : the role of assisted housing / Gerald Hodge with the assistance of Julia E. Johnson, Domenico Renzella.: NH15-651/1984E-PDF

"Programs for publicly assisted housing for senior citizens are making it increasingly possible for the elderly to reside in towns and villages. A study of senior citizen apartments in nine small towns in Eastern Ontario affords an opportunity to evaluate the effectiveness with which this facet of social housing policy meets the needs of the elderly. Interviews with residents show the array of services most frequently used, the location where they are obtained, and the means of transportation. Appraisals ofphysical facilities and of the availability and access to community services reveal many shortfalls from safety features to location of projects"--Abstract.
