“The structure of Lumpfish populations and the identification of Lumpfish stocks (Cyclopterus lumpus) (also known as the Seahen) of the Gulf of St. Lawrence are unknown. This document deals with Subdivision 3Pn and Divisions 4R and 4S of the Northwest Atlantic Fisheries Organization (NAFO). This choice is based on areas of interest where there is a directed fishery for this species. The species is currently the subject of an assessment by the Committee on the Status of Endangered Wildlife in Canada (COSEWIC), and the report is expected for November 2017. Fisheries and Oceans Canada (DFO) conducts a review and assessment process of the Lumpfish in the northern Gulf of St Lawrence every five years. The most recent review was conducted on February 18, 2016. In support of that review, this document presents the data, techniques, analyses and findings of that assessment following the 2015 fishing season"--Introd., p. 1.
