"Sulfur emitted from any given natural or anthropogenic source carries an isotopic signature which can be used to fingerprint its origin and trace its flow through the environment. This unique and direct method has been used in this study to show that most of the sulfur in the haze comes from Europe, and hence to document the pervasive and global nature of current air pollution"--Abstract.
