"During the initial phases of our study of the effects of Satellite/Terrestrial Intermodal Competition, it became apparent that one of the major market segments which would have an impact on the market split between satellite and terrestrial facilities would be the private line and private network market. This segment of the market was not covered in detail by Canadian Astronautics Limited during their demand study. However, our discussions with a number of users and potential users of satellite services during the early phases of the Intermodal Competition Study indicated a significant potential demand for satellite service among large businesses"--Background to the study.
