"A study of the potential applications of artificial intelligence to the field of office automation is presented. The office automation domain, along with some of its terminology, is briefly summarized. The potential contributions of artificial intelligence to help office automation better meet its objectives is then considered in light of this. Some research and development projects underway at our research centre are presented as illustrations and a number of useful classification tools are highlighted to help identify existing and potential application areas. These findings are summarized in the form of three matrices which identify interesting overlaps that can be addressed by expert system applications in office automation"--Abstract.
