"Canadians are concerned about contaminants in the air they breathe and are increasingly demanding information on the issue. The Atmospheric Environment Service (AES) now provides expertise to deal with some air quality issues, but its central role continues to be weather forecasting. Since air pollutant concentrations are closely linked to the weather, AES could provide an improved and visible service to Canadians by playing a leading role in forecasting the quality of the air"--Executive summary, page 1.
