This booklet describes the results of a pilot project to determine how best to engage communities in community-based monitoring to contribute to local sustainability. The project involved 31 widely different communities across Canada that looked at ways to help build local capacity to collect and use ecological information. The results have been distilled into best practices and a tool box to guide organizations that want to bring about more sustainable decision making.
