This report presents the major findings of the second cycle of the Canadian Incidence Study of Reported Child Abuse and Neglect (CIS-2003). This study collects data every five years on child maltreatment reported to, and investigated by, child welfare agencies in Canada. The report looks at the characteristics of maltreatment, service dispositions, child and household characteristics, and referral and agency characteristics. It also compares the CIS-2003 and CIS-1998.
