The National Pollutant Release Inventory (NPRI) is a legislated inventory of pollutants released into the environment. In 2002, 2595 facilities submitted reports of on-site releases; total on-site releases were estimated at just more than 200 000 tonnes. This reports details the percentage of pollutants released into the air, land, and water; the pollutants released in the largest quantities; and the industrial sectors releasing the largest quantities of pollutants.
