This report highlights major descriptive findings from the Canadian Incidence Study of Reported Child Abuse and Neglect (CIS). The CIS is the first nation-wide study to examine the incidence of reported child maltreatment and the characteristics of the children and families investigated by Canadian child welfare services. The incidence estimates presented in this report are based on a survey, completed by child welfare workers, of a representative sample of 7,672 child maltreatment investigations.--Page 5
