"This is the first issue in a series of standard table(s) on the demographic aspects of marriages in Canada for the data years 1987 and 1988. For Canada, the ten provinces and the two territories, the statistical tables in this document mainly relate to: the numbers and rates of marriage; marriages and marriage rates by age at marriage of bride(s) and bridegroom(s); marriages by marital status of partners just prior to the marriage(s); religious affiliations of the brides and bridegrooms and; seasonal patterns relating to marriages ... For 1985 and prior years, data relating to marriages and divorces were presented in a single report "Marriages and Divorces, Vital Statistics Volume II, Catalogue 84-205"--Methodological note, 1987/88.
