"The Environmental Protection Service (EPS) initiated a program to compile and review environmental information on the pulp and paper mills in British Columbia. With the cooperation of various other government agencies and the pulp and paper industry, EPS compiled relevant resource and receiving environment monitoring information. After reviewing and evaluating the existing information, the environmental quality of each area was assessed and the need for additional monitoring studies determined.
