Air-blast experiments on square plates (U) / by R. Houlston, D. Ritzel, J.E. Slater, G. Rude and R.T. Schmitke.: DR52-6/35-1986E-PDF
"Air blast experiments on steel plates are described, the objectives of which were to obtain structural response data on a simple geometry and to develop experiment procedures. In these tests, unstiffened square steel plates were subjected to normally incident blast loads from high explosive charges. The target plates measured 51 cm x 51 cm, with thickness of 1.5 and 3.4 mm. Peak reflected blast overpressure ranged from 50 to 7000 kPa, with durations from 0.5 to 2.9 ms. A wide range of structural response was obtained, from linear elastic to large plastic deformation. Pressure, strain, acceleration, velocity and displacement data are presented and discussed. The results show that large scale plastic response is fundamentally different from small scale elastic response."--Abstract (page i).
