This class of substances was considered a priority on the basis that scientific evidence to date indicates that the other groups of PFAS, including those used to replace regulated PFAS (that is, perfluorooctane sulfonate [PFOS] and its salts and precursors, perfluorooctanoic acid [PFOA] and its salts and precursors, and long-chain perfluorocarboxylic acids [LC-PFCAs] and their salts and precursors), may also be associated with environmental or human health effects.
