Failure to accelerate molting following eyestalk ablation in decapod crustaceans : a review of the literature / by Jeffrey B. Sochasky.Fs52-1/431E-PDF

"A detailed review of a number of examples of failure to accelerate molting following eyestalk ablation is given. In some cases of such failure to accelerate molting (indeed, it is usually inhibition of molting) it is reported that reproductive development has been stimulated ; the "antagonism" between somatic and reproductive growth, which is seen in intact animals, has therefore been invoked by various authors to explain the observed failure of eye-stalk ablation to accelerate molting"--Abstract, page 7.
