"Employment and Social Development Canada (ESDC) and its partners are working to fill key gaps in data and knowledge related to school food programming in Canada. The goal is to build a strong, evidence-based program that helps improve health, learning, and access to nutritious food at school - ensuring every generation has the support they need to reach their full potential. To inform this work, ESDC conducted a national engagement in January and February 2025 with the following objectives: identify gaps and priorities in school food data and research; identify the best ways to share school food research findings; guide future school food data and research activities in Canada. Through an online questionnaire and written submissions, individuals and organizations with expertise in school food shared their perspectives.
