"In the following account we have given an abstract of some of our present knowledge of the distribution of commercial fish and invertebrate species in Newfoundland waters together with such parts of the life history as are pertinent to the question of fish abundance. It has been necessary to consider in brief form the basic hydrography of the area. An account is given of some of the local work in fisheries chemistry and of future fisheries research requirements in the biological field"--Introduction, page [1].
