"A survey of red sea urchin populations from the Deserters Group area in Queen Charlotte Strait, parts of Pacific Fishery Management (PFM) Area 12, was conducted in November 2000. A total of 57 randomly placed transects were surveyed by SCUBA divers. Estimated mean density was 2.12 urchins per m². Estimated mean biomass was 812.4 g per m². Overall, 3.6% of the total number of urchins measured were ≤50 mm test diameter (TD), whereas 73.0% were of legal size (≥90 mm TD) for the commercial fishery"--Abstract, page iii.
