"A survey of red sea urchin populations in the Tofino area, parts of Pacific Fishery Management (PFM) Areas 24 and 124, was conducted in September 2000. A total of 56 randomly placed transects were surveyed by SCUBA divers. Estimated mean density was 2.39 urchins per m². Estimated mean biomass was 621.9 g/m². Overall, 12.5% of the total number of urchins measured were ≤50 mm test diameter (TD) whereas 46.7% were of legal size (≥90 mm TD) for the commercial fishery"--Abstract, page iii.
