A guide to the use of the computerized lifestyle assessment instrument for substance abuse / contributors : David Robinson, Elizabeth Fabiano, Frank Porporino, Bart Millson, Greg Graves; editor, Tanya...JS82-119/1993E-PDF

" ... This brief guide outlines the purpose of the clai and describes how it can be used in work with offenders. Although the guide was developed specifically for case management officers who use the results of the clai for substance abuse program planning with offenders, it will also be useful for others responsible for substance abuse programming. This guide discusses specifically how information (e.g., scores) from the clai can be interpreted and used. It also reviews research findings on the validity and meaningfulness of assessment information provided by offenders. Additional information about research on the clai is available in reports from the Research and Statistics Branch. Before the clai was introduced, there was no systemic and consistent procedure within the Correctional Service of Canada to identify and subsequently assess offender's substance use problems" -- forward, page 4-5.
