Seeing the economy through colored glasses : partisanship in macro and (not in) micro expectations / Tao Wang, Adrian Monninger, Kyung Woong Koh.FB3-5/2026-24E-PDF

"Both economic inequality and political polarization have risen over the past decades in many countries, including the United States. This paper focuses on one particular manifestation of the polarization with deep economic roots - that of macroeconomic expectations. We argue that such polarization cannot be studied independently without considering the role of rising economic inequality. The diverse economic outcomes experienced by households are an important contributor to the polarized views of the macroeconomy"--Introduction, page 1.
