Quality assurance in water quality monitoring / James E. Gaskin,: En40-448/1993E-PDF
"Quality assurance (QA) impacts on all phases of research and data-gathering activities. It ensures that the study design is optimum prior to implementation and that studies are implemented as designed. The existence of quality control (QC) guidelines and procedures ensures that the data produced are suitable for the intended use. The Water Quality Branch's QA management plan assigns formal responsibility andaccountability to managers and staff to develop and implement a comprehensive and verifiable QAprogram for all water quality monitoring programs, including federal-provincial water quality monitoring activities. The QA management plan requires the preparation of individual QA plans that provide detailedguidelines for the implementation of the aforementioned policies. Compliance with these policies and guidelines contributes significantly to the credibility of the research and monitoring performed and tothe efficient use of available resources." -- Executive summary, page vi.
