"Pitu’paq (Bras d’Or Lake) is a complex saltwater estuary designated as a UNESCO Biosphere region. This unique body of water, historically referred to as Pitu’paq by the Mi’kmaw, hosts a rich diversity of people and wildlife, providing terrestrial, marine, and coastal habitats, as well as extensive wetlands, bogs, and barachois ponds. The present document summarises the seasonal variation of the aquatic ecosystem’s physical and biogeochemical properties of the lake recorded by combining in situ and satellite measurements at selected locations between 2022 and 2024. The data collections and project objective to learn about the physical and biological status of Pitu’paq guided by Mi’kmaq principles: Netukulimk and Etuaptmumk (Two-Eyed Seeing).
