The purpose of this paper is to analyse the multi-factor productivity (MFP) gap between Canadian-and foreign controlled manufacturing firms.--Abstract We have identified five factors to explain inter-firm differences in MFP levels in the two groups of manufacturing firms -- namely, labour quality, firm vintage, unionization, export orientation, and firm size.--Page 3
