Alcohol and parenting : the effect of maternal heavy drinking / by R. O. Pihl et al. : MP32-28/98-27E

Research has associated heavy maternal drinking with many problems in the mother's health and the development of the fetus during pregnancy. However, little attention is paid to how drinking affects child development. The good news is that only four percent of children in the NLSCY have a mother who drinks 5 drinks of[or] more on more than 12 occasions. Unfortunately for these children, drinking poses a serious problem.-- Executive summary
