This research paper uses data from the National Longitudinal Survey of Children and Youth (NLSCY) to address three questions: 1. Is there evidence that participation in sports, the arts and community programs is associated with improved psychosocial adjustment in children? 2. What are the rates of participation in these activities by selected sociodemographic variables? 3. What are the strengths of selected correlates in the sociodemographic, neighbourhood and child domains on participating rates?--Introduction
