Cigarette smoking and young women's presentation of self : H39-366/1996E

The purpose of the study was to explore both the role and the impact of smoking in the self-presentation behaviours of young women, particularly as they relate to body image and self-conception. Since much previous research has suggested that young women in North America are highly valued for their appearance, it is also important to understand what role smoking plays in the projection of self-image to others.--Page 7
