This is an executive summary of the report of the National Volunteerism Initiative Joint Table, which focuses on encouraging more Canadians to volunteer with and contribute to voluntary organizations. This joint table also focuses on enhancing the ability of voluntary organizations to benefit more from the contributions of volunteers. The summary highlights what we know and don’t know about the state of volunteering in Canada today and makes recommendations that address some of the obstacles and challenges faced by both volunteers and voluntary organizations. The findings represent an attempt to better understand, sustain and enhance volunteerism in Canada.
