5203 |a"A forecast of population and households in the twelve Canadian Provinces and Territories is presented to the year 2046. The forecast is based on the assumption of constant fertility and mortality rates and on demographic trends observed in households between census years 1976 and 1981. A recently developed methodology is applied to utilize observed past changes in a variety of household demographic measures such as number of households and average household size. The forecast is presented in a set of Tables in 5-year intervals for 5-year age-groups. Numbers of population and households are given in hundreds. The forecast is based on demographic trends and on tendencies in household composition as observed in the censuses conducted by Statistics Canada in 1976 and 1981. Tables 1.1 to 2.6 provide concise information on population and households in Canada's Provinces and Territories, as observed in the two censuses of 1976 and 1981. The information in Tables 1.1 2.6 is utilized as input to the forecasting procedure. Tables 3.1 - 15.5 are forecasts of population and households. As evidenced by observing both the input and the forecast Tables, the displayed information is presented by identical demographic characteristics over time. The Tables provide various demographic measures by 5-year age groups and by Provinces (or Territories)"--Abstract.
