"The Province of New Brunswick and the Government of Canada have entered into a "General Agreement Respecting Flood Damage Reduction" with the objective of reducing potential flood damage on flood plains and along the shores of lakes, rivers and the sea. This agreement recognizes that the potential for flood damage can be reduced by the control of the uses made of areas prone to flooding"--Introduction, page [1].
