Relative fishing powers of on-bottom trawlers operating in the Canadian portions of Georgia and Juan de Fuca Straits, 1954-84 / by S.J. Westrheim and R.P. Foucher. : Fs97-4/1856E-PDF
"Relative fishing powers (RFPs) were calculated for the on-bottom trawlers landing groundfish for human consumption from the Canadian portions of Georgia and Juan de Fuca straits during October-March 1954-55 through 1983-84. Landing statistics for Pacific cod, the predominant species, were used for the linear regression of LPUEs (landing per unit effort), at 40% qualification level, on horsepower class (100-unit intervals), gear-class 3 (double gear + drum). RFPs for gear-class 3 (double gear + drum), were 0.64, 0.81, 1.00, 1.18, 1.35, 1.54, 1.71, 1.90, 2.07, and 2.25, respectively, for horsepower-classes 1 (100 hp) - 10 (899 hp). RFPs for gear-class 3 were 1.417 with respect to gear-class 1 (single gear), and 1.336 with respect to gear-class 2 (double gear)"--Abstract, page iii.
