The following report was commissioned by the Atlantic Canada Opportunities Agency (ACOA) in an effort to establish an in-depth look at the current situation of women business owners in Atlantic Canada. This study includes both primary and secondary research. Primary research was undertaken to establish baseline data regarding women business owners in Atlantic Canada. This data will help with future evaluations of ACOA's Women in Business Initiative as well as program and policy development. Information from secondary research was also compiled to provide a profile of women entrepreneurs in Canada and Atlantic Canada.
